Climate plans a disappointment
Tuesday this week saw the long-awaited publication of the Scottish Government’s new climate change action plan (the ‘Report on Proposals and Policies’ (or ‘RPP2’)).
Given the announcement last summer that the Scottish Government had missed its first annual emissions target, it is disappointing that the revised plan appears to be bring forward no new measures in the transport sector -- and appears to be much more vague that its predecessor as to how the targets will actually be met.
We’ve been working with Stop Climate Chaos Scotland over the past year to try to ensure that RPP2 sets out a set of measures that will get Scotland back on track to legal commitments, and will be helping SCCS submit a strong response to the RPP2.
