BBC trams documentary
Commenting on Tuesday's BBC documentary
The Great Tram Disaster, Transform Scotland Board member Paul Tetlaw said:
"To those of us who have closely followed the Edinburgh Tram project the programme had little new to say -- although it seemed rather too simplistic to lay the blame for all the ills on tie. They had to operate in a hostile political environment so it is perhaps not too surprising that they in turn found it difficult to manage their relationship with the contractor."In truth all of the key players have questions to answer and a future inquiry will no doubt explore the role played by politicians of all parties as well as those charged with delivering the project. "However, the priority now is to get the trams up and running. Once this happens public opinion will shift and there will be demands for extensions to the system. This has been the pattern throughout the world and there is no reason to believe that Edinburgh will be any different. The basic reasons for building a modern light rail system in Scotland's capital city remain as strong as ever."
