Briefing: Socially-Just Transport
Travel is an essential part of every person’s life; it can determine our access to jobs, education and other services. Yet despite the importance of travel to the way people live, transport policy often ignores the effect it can have on the most economically disadvantaged and the most vulnerable people in our society. This briefing paper attempts to highlight the cost, on society, of unfair travel policies that place too much emphasis on traveling by private car and highlight how policy can be improved to give the worse off in our society greater access to services vital for everyday life.
