Report on Campaign for Borders Rail AGM
Transform Scotland's rail campaigner Paul Tetlaw reports:
The 2011 AGM of the Campaign For Borders Rail was held in Galashiels on 22 November. The main speaker was Neil Buxton of ACoRP who gave impressive figures of passenger growth on many rural railway lines in England and Wales. Different ways of developing community involvement in the new railway to the Borders were discussed and there was general enthusiasm from many of those present for becoming involved in promoting the new railway.
The meeting was attended by well over 40 people, including two MSPs. We heard from the Network Rail representative, Craig Bowman, that they are currently undertaking 'Due Diligence' with Transport Scotland and expect to be able to make a public announcement in the spring of 2012.
