What's coming up at Transform Scotland
This year, our AGM is going to be held on the evening of Tuesday 10 September in Edinburgh. Please put the date in your calendars. As last year, we’re going to follow the formal AGM with a speaker event and a drinks reception. All members will be emailed within the next few weeks with full details.
We are currently preparing three new reports. Firstly, we are conducting a review of progress in Scotland’s cities on delivering sustainable transport. Secondly, we are measuring whether Scottish public bodies have followed the Scottish Climate Change Act and put in place measures to reduce emissions. Finally, we are in the throes of completing our long-awaited air pollution report. We intend to feature presentations on some of these initiatives at the AGM.
Separately, our attention is turning to the Scottish Budget, which is due for publication in September. Given the recent high-profile nature of the demands for investment in cycling, it will be a key test of the government’s intentions towards sustainable transport to see whether it brings forward substantial new investment in active travel. We will also be looking to see whether the Government continues to reduce investment in bus travel, as this has been a worrying trend in recent years’ budgets.
