No newsletter in months, then two in a week, here's our "end of May" issue ...

Tomorrow's Members' Session, Friday 1 June

We still have places available for tomorrow (Friday) afternoon’s Members’ Session (3.30pm start) -- so if you are available please join us to hear about our forthcoming major new report (on the state of sustainable transport in Scotland): see our website for details of the event.

SAPT 50th anniversary event & AGM, Saturday 9 June

June 2012 is the 50th anniversary of the Scottish Association for Public Transport (SAPT). Amongst other things, SAPT were one of the key founder members of Transform Scotland.

To mark this anniversary, an event is being held on Saturday 9 June at Glasgow University Business School, which is open to all with an interest in transport. Guest speaker Professor Iain Docherty, Professor of Public Policy and Governance at Glasgow University, will give a talk on the opportunities and challenges facing public transport in Scotland. See SAPT website for full details.

And more events:

Friends of the Far North Line are on Monday 11 June holding their AGM in Dingwall. Their guest speaker is David Simpson, MD of Network Rail Scotland.

Central Scotland Green Network have their 2012 ‘Forum’ in Glasgow on Tuesday 12 June.

Railfuture’s national conference is being held in Stirling on Saturday 16 June.

Saturday 16 June also sees the start of national Bike Week. We’ll be making an appearance at Spokes’ annual Bike Breakfast, to be held on Wednesday 20 June in Edinburgh.

Launch of 'Active Travel, Active Scotland'

We’re very happy to report the successful launch of the active travel advocacy document ‘Active Travel, Active Scotland’ at the national active travel conference held earlier this week. The report was produced jointly with Cycling Scotland, Living Streets Scotland, Paths for All & Sustrans Scotland. It is available for download from our website.

Last week's newsletter

Some of you reported a problem with the header of last week’s newsletter. If, for whatever reason, you didn’t receive it, it’s also up our website. And to the reader (you know who you are) who questioned whether Zoë Blah, Ivan Zovko, and Sophie van der Ham were real people, or whether we'd made them up: for clarification: they're real.

Please let us know what you'd like in the next issue
This newsletter has been put together by Zoë Blah. Please feel free to email me with your suggestions for content for next month's newsletter.

And see our 'Events' and 'Take Action Online' pages for more information on things you could attend and things you could do to press for sustainable transport.
