Get On Yer Bike! this Wednesday

Details on the event are
available here. People are being urged to sign up to attend via the event's
Facebook page.
Colin Howden, Director of Transform Scotland said:
"The SNP were elected last May with a manifesto promise to increase the share of transport investment in active travel. Instead they took the first opportunity to cut investment in this area by a third. It's no wonder that people have so little faith in politicians when they are so ready to tear up their manifesto promises just months after being elected."We could understand budget cuts for sustainable transport if other areas of transport also faced similar pain. But the whole transport budget is due to increase (by 2%)* while the budget for motorways and trunk roads is due to increase by 15%."If the Government doesn't take the opportunity to revise its expenditure plans for active travel before it publishes its final budget later this month then it'll be fairly clear that they can't be trusted to invest in delivering a transport system which will improve Scotland's health record or reduce climate emissions."
* Note: The overall transport budget rises from £1803.7m in Budget 2011-12 to £1838.2m in Draft Budget 2012-13. Figures based on first six rows in Table 13.02 in document 'Scottish Spending Review 2011 and Draft Budget 2012-13'.
