Newsletter: Civilising the Streets Update
By Siobhan Reardon
As part of our work promoting active travel, we are working with Sustrans Scotland to undertake a political analysis of the decision-making processes in key continental cities and towns which led to them having better conditions for walking and cycling than comparable cities and towns in Scotland.
The project is being carried out by the Transform Scotland Trust and we hope to have the first phase – the political analysis – completed by late May 2010. We will then go onto the second phase of the project - communicating key messages to a public audience and collecting public expressions of support for better conditions for walking & cycling, traffic reduction, street reclaiming, greater investment in active travel, other pro-sustainable transport interventions.
