Support for emissions-linked parking charges welcomed

Transform Scotland today welcomed the results of the public consultation into emissions-linked parking charges in Edinburgh. The proposals would reward those households who have less polluting vehicle at the expense of those with more polluting vehicles.

Transform Scotland Director Colin Howden said:

"The strong public support for this proposal is very welcome, and we look forward to seeing the City of Edinburgh Council implementing the scheme as soon as practicable.

"The Council ditched its 2005 congestion charging plans following public opposition despite the very positive impact that scheme would have had in terms of reducing climate change emissions. Given that this scheme has overwhelming public support it is imperative that this scheme is implemented without delay."
