TRANSFORM SCOTLAND LAUNCHES SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT CONSULTANCY

Launch of social enterprise TRAC

Transform Scotland, the national alliance for sustainable transport, has today (Wednesday 25 June) launched TRAC, a specialist consultancy service for sustainable transport in Scotland. [1] [2]

Transform Research and Communications (TRAC) will be launched at an event being held tonight (Wednesday 25 June) at the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Speaking at the event will be Cabinet Secretary John Swinney MSP and a panel of industry experts: Ross Martin from the Scottish Council for Development and Industry, Ben Thierry from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, John Lauder from Sustrans Scotland and Damien Henderson from Virgin Trains.

Phil Matthews, chair of Transform Scotland, said:

"It is a real privilege to be able to welcome the Cabinet Secretary and a range of policy experts to what will be a well attended launch. I'm sure our guests and audience will provide an interesting and incisive debate, creating an excellent launch platform for TRAC.

"Transport decisions must be based on a sound assessment of the economic, social and environmental impacts of policy, and the work of TRAC will contribute greatly to our knowledge and understanding."

Enterprise Manager for TRAC, Elspeth Wray, said:

"The launch of TRAC is a really exciting opportunity to show how promoting sustainable transport can also make good business sense. Transform Scotland has a fantastic record in research and advocacy for greener travel which we’ll be building upon through TRAC.

I’m looking forward to working with businesses and organisations all over Scotland who want to invest in and and push the boundaries for all modes of sustainable travel, from walking and cycling to buses, trains and sustainable car use."

Elspeth has joined Transform Scotland from the Architecture and Built Environment Team of the Design Council. [3]
