Welcome for trams completion to St Andrew Square
Transform Scotland have welcomed the decision by the SNP Group on City of Edinburgh Council to support the completion of the tram scheme to St Andrew Square.
Earlier this week, Transform Scotland wrote to all five political parties urging this outcome -- and so are pleased that the SNP have seen sense at last.
Transform Scotland have also -- for some time -- been urging the Scottish Government to come off the fence and recognise that this is a project of national importance. Hence yesterday's intervention by John Swinney was very welcome, if somewhat belated.
Paul Tetlaw said:
"We welcome the SNP’s decision today to support the completion of the tram scheme to St Andrew Square. We now look to them to join with the other parties on the Council to provide concerted leadership to deliver the tram project.
"We have been saying for some considerable time that the Scottish Government needed to intervene to rescue this project and so we welcome their belated intervention."
