Progress in Edinburgh on parking charges and 20mph zones

Transform Scotland have today welcomed The City of Edinburgh Council's decisions on parking charges and 20mph zones.

Colin Howden, Director of Transform Scotland said:

"It's great news that Edinburgh has finally decided to give the go-ahead to varying parking charges according to vehicle emissions. The incentives through national the tax regime are inadequate so it is welcome that this local authority has taken action to further incentivise the use of lower-emission vehicles.

"The news that the Council is also to pursue an large-scale 20mph zone in south Edinburgh is also very encouraging. There is no need for people to be driving at 30mph on residential streets, and this decision will help to make Edinburgh a more civilised place in which to live."
